Day 1 Vancouver to Kamloops
"A-a-a-all aboa-a-ard." At Vancouver's Pacific Central
Station, board the Rocky Mountaineer. Pass through the fertile
fields of the Fraser River Valley and the towering peaks of
the Coastal Mountains before entering the Fraser Canyon. Follow
the Thompson River to historic Kamloops, gateway to the interior
of British Columbia. Overnight in moderate accommodation provided
in Kamloops. Evening at Two River Junction (optional), Dinner
and Musical Revue. Breakfast and lunch onboard.
Day 2 Kamloops to Jasper (Yellowhead Route) Rejoin your train for the continuation of your trans-mountain journey. First, travel through the rolling hills of the Thompson River valley to the snowy peaks of the Monoshees. Enjoy a stunning view of Pyramid Falls and marvel at the vast expanses of the Albreda Icefield glaciers. Shortly before arriving in Jasper National Park in the late afternoon, you will encounter majestic Mount Robson - at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet), this is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Breakfast and lunch onboard.
OR Day 2 Kamloops to Banff or Calgary (Kicking Horse Route)
Depart Kamloops through the vast ranchlands along
the South Thompson River to Shuswap Lake with its "thousand
miles" of shoreline. Pass Craigellachie, where the "last spike"
was driven completing the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1885.
Enter Rogers Pass, with its tunnels, snow-sheds and glistening
glaciers. The Kicking Horse River leads you to Kicking Horse
Pass, the Spiral Tunnels and over the Continental Divide to
Banff, and Banff National Park. End your tour in Banff or
continue on to the Stampede City of Calgary. Breakfast and
lunch onboard. Hors d'oeuvres are served en route to Calgary.
